"You're supposed to listen to your Mom on Mother's Day" This may have been an exact quote from me yesterday. 😬
So.... now that Mother's Day is behind us -- can we take a moment to be real about it?
Don't get me wrong, I had an amazing day - having B give me the biggest hugs and whispering "I love you" into my ear many times. And I'm forever grateful for being a mommy. But that doesn't mean it doesn't come with great challenges -- even on Mother's Day.
The 24 hours of Mother's Day included:
• an 8 yr old that talked with some sass, and me getting a bit annoyed by it
• Brielle not letting me win 5 Crowns game🤣
• Me saying to Brian, "I wonder how many times she says momma momma momma in 1 day? I never hear dadda"
• A rough bedtime routine
• Once we were calmed down, a talk and apologies about how we could do better next time.
I am happy to report the evening and bedtime went much smoother tonight. And tonight I'm even winning at our Sky Jo card game. 😀
I'm reminded of one of my favorite quotes by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer — 'Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.'
I had it in my head, that because it was Mother's Day life would run smoothly for a change. There wouldn't be any rough moments. I would be pampered and spoiled. When Mother's Day didn't go that way, reality hit me pretty hard. Now I can laugh about it with my fellow mamma friends, who get it too.
I'd love to hear from you in the comments or by email:
What's something in your life that you could start seeing and accepting how it is, versus how you wish it would go?
